The so-called self-proclaimed "Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republic " are ready to hold local elections on the basis of Ukrainian legislation and with the participation of OSCE observers, but this requires direct consultation between Kyiv, Donetsk and Lugansk.
This was stated by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
"The first condition for the preparation of elections in Donbass is direct consultation and coordination modalities of these elections. Donetsk and Lugansk willing to hold them on the basis of Ukrainian law, they are ready to OSCE observers have the right to monitor the process, but they want this consultation to agree with the Ukrainian authorities, "- said the minister at a press conference in Moscow.
In July President Poroshenko said that the conduct of the representatives of the self-proclaimed "DNR " and "FSC " local elections on October 18 can have devastating consequences for the de-escalation of tension in the Donbas.
Earlier, the CEC decided that the local elections scheduled for 25 October this year, will not be carried out in the occupied territory in 125 towns and 146 Donetsk region - Luhansk. Local elections in Ukraine scheduled for Oct. 25 this year.
